Tuesday club night
Tuesday 1st January 6:00PM until Wednesday 2nd January 8:30AM
A new inititive from HCC.
Starting on 2 October, Hackney Chess Club will be holding weekly club nights every Tuesday from 6pm till 9.30pm in an upstairs room at The Clarence Tavern, 102 Stoke Newington Church St, Stoke Newington, London N16 0LA (our home venue for Middlesex League matches).
Non-members are welcome, although club members will take priority if too many people wish to attend. Young people (under the age of 16 years old) are also welcome but they must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
The purpose of these evenings is to facilitate discussion and understanding of chess across the entire range of membership of the club, of all abilities. They are not intended as an opportunity to play blitz chess: Saturday evening blitz sessions in The Rochester Castle will continue to cater for blitz addicts.
Each club night will be co-ordinated by a member of the club who will lead the evening’s activities. These might include: problems, studies and tactical exercises; going through classical or contemporary games (including highly topical ones such as Carlsen v Caruana this November); going through interesting games by club members; simultaneous displays; examining types of endgames; club rapidplay or standard play championships. Anybody with suggestions for themes to be covered is most welcome to submit them to Nick Walker (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The first session, on Tuesday 2 October, will be led by Bob Eames. Do please come along to help make this new initiative a success.
