Champions! Hackney win Middlesex League for first time since 2002

A great season by our Middlesex League Division 1 team was crowned at our final game of the season, a crushing 6.5-1.5 win over Athenaeum which secured our first Middlesex title since 2002. A double over favourites Hendon 1 ultimately secured the title but the 11-1 season scoreline reflected a superb campaign. Credit must go to captain Paul Conway who took over the Middlesex team three seasons ago and always felt we were in with a chance. He says: “I’m really delighted that we’ve brought the title back to Hackney. We have a lot of strong players making themselves available for matches. We finished second in the last two seasons, it did seem like a matter of time and this year it all came together.”

We would like to thank the Clarence Tavern on Stoke Newington Church Street for their hospitality and support and look forward to defending the trophy next season.
