Hackney Gorki walk the walky!

It’s been a great start to the season for our London League Division 6 Hackney Gorki team with two wins on the bounce. On the opening day of the season Chris Thorne’s team defeated our other div 6 team Hackney MI 2.5-1.5 and in their latest game they enjoyed a 4-0 win over Greater London MI. Gorki now sit proudly on top of the Div 6 table.

Our Division 1 team also had a great start with a win over Drunken Knights followed by a loss to Richmond and then a great win against King’s Head. Francis Chin’s Division 2 team had a 5-5 draw with Dulwich in their only game to date. Peter Burgoyne’s Div 3 team were beaten 2.5-7.5 by Hammersmith. Chris Gribben’s Div 5 team beat Hammersmith MA 3-1 in their opening game.

The new location at Citadines Hotel in Holborn has been well received. With free tea, coffee and biscuits, a lovely lounge to analyse games, and reasonably priced beer, it is certainly a ‘move up’.

In other news, congratulations to Leon Zarchan who qualified for the finals of the Under 8 section of the London Junior Chess Championships and great work by Francis Chin in securing The Clarence pub on the corner of Stoke Newington Church Street and Defoe Road for our Middlesex League home games.
